Military Inspired Fashion for Men – Fall 2010
Military inspired fashion is the biggest trend this season! For men, the key looks are smart and sophisticated with a rugged appeal. As an added bonus, many designers are paying tribute to the US Military by giving back! From stylish military jackets to a line of specialty colognes, fashion forward men will look ultra chic while paying tribute to those who inspired this fashionable Fall trend.
1. Wool Blend Bomber Jacket ($69.50, Old Navy)
Nothing says Fall better than a great jacket! This modern coat features military inspired details, from epaulets and button flap patch pockets to the rib knit trim on the sexy stand up collar. This affordable jacket is a must have for Fall, and would look great with a pair of dark denim jeans for a fashionable night on the town!
2. Army Bag Bow Tie ($46, Hugh Simms)
For the man who doesn’t like traditional ties, LA designer Hugh Simms has created a unique twist on the classic accessory. His signature army bag bow tie is made from recycled military bags. The green, 100% cotton fabric has a worn look and contains the markings of real US soldiers. This bow can be knotted for a preppy look or worn undone with a collared shirt for a more casual, modern appeal.
3. Timex Expedition Military Watch ($100, Timex)
When it comes to accessories, a classic watch is an essential fashion item for every man’s wardrobe. This casual and versatile watch from Timex is reminiscent of World War II-era aviation equipment. The canvas band and bold face make this watch a stylish standout, and versatile enough to wear to the office or the hiking trail.
4. Distressed Army Cap ($24, Take Flight Boutique)
Like women and their shoes, a man can never have too many hats! This handmade cadet style cap is cool and casual in a light khaki fabric. The distressed peace sign adds a unique element, and is also a reminder that a portion of the proceeds from the hat goes to Home for Our Troops. This non-profit foundation builds specially adapted homes for severely injured veterans.
5. The American Line Colognes ($45, The American Line)
Pay tribute to the millions of active and veteran servicemen with The American Line, the officially licensed colognes for each branch of the US military. The collection features fragrances inspired by the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. The scents are strong and masculine, with notes of sage, sandalwood, and cedar. Every sleek bottle is complete with the seal of each branch, and have clever names such as Patton (Army), Devil Dog (Marines), and Liberty (Navy). The American Line also donates a significant portion of their proceeds to the US Veterans Administration.
6. SM Men’s Justt Boot ($79.95, DSW Shoes)
These classic combat boots are a fun and comfortable way to sport the military trend! This lace up boot is fashionable and functional with the canvas stripe detail, round capped toe, and rugged rubber soles. This is a great everyday boot for Fall, and would look perfect with the military inspired bomber jacket above!

Thanks to the popularity of AMC’s “Mad Men,” a well dressed gentleman has never been sexier. Aside from a great tie and a beautiful pair of cufflinks, a stylish scarf is a fashion staple that every man needs in his wardrobe. The Linox scarf ($49.99) from Ian Saude is a lightweight, cashmere blend scarf in a classic herringbone pattern. The crinkled texture lends a contemporary feel and would dress up everything from a sophisticated suit to casual denim.

Fall Shoe Trends 2010
The biggest shoe trends for Fall are funky and functional, from booties with statement hardware to platforms that can be worn from day to night. Shoe designers are mixing it up this season, by adding cool accents and details to our favorite looks. And with the following styles all under $100, it won’t cost you an arm and a leg when stocking up on all the hottest Fall shoe trends!
Ankle Booties
This 80s inspired trend hit the scene a few years ago, but this season, they’re a lot more grown up. For Fall, the look will be more fashion forward with daring and dramatic details, such as sexy peep toes, geometric cut outs, and bold cage straps. These sexy ankle booties would compliment everything from denim to a great dress!
Hardware
Inspired by the rugged yet sexy, military looks that graced the Fall runways, shoes with statement hardware are going to be everywhere this Fall. From buckles and grommets, to buttons and studs, plan to see boots, heels, and flats rockin’ these bold accessories.
Menswear
Thanks to the popularity of the boyfriend jean and blazer, shoes with a masculine appeal are going to be a casual and sophisticated trend for Fall. Everything from oxfords, trouser flats, and booties with chunkier heels are going to be all the rage amongst the bohemian set.
Platform Pumps
With all this menswear inspiration, it’s time to bring the sexy back with ultra feminine platform pumps! As THE go to shoe for Hollywood celebrities, platform pumps are simple and elegant with a twist. The added boost from the platform gives the shoe an edge that you wouldn’t get from a traditional stiletto. Like classic black heels and nude pumps, this must have style is a staple for every woman’s wardrobe!
