Bold Floral Prints will be everywhere this spring, from flirty dresses and tops to fashion forward pants. While small, dainty flowers are still in, it’s all about big florals to make a bold, eye catching statement this season!

Kimono Blouse VS 59.50

This Asian inspired, pink Kimono Blouse ($59.50, Victoria’s Secret) is sweet and sexy, and would look great with skinny jeans and heels. The billowy blouse is easy to wear and an ideal lightweight cover-up for the warmer months ahead.

Floral Sundress VS 59.50

This multi-colored, floral sundress ($59.50, Victoria’s Secret) would be perfect for a tropical getaway, or even a springtime brunch with friends. The smocked, strapless style is super comfortable while the fit and flare shape complements all figures.

Oscars 2012 Best Dressed

The hottest celebrities hit the Oscars red carpet in impeccable style Sunday night, drawing a memorable close to tinsel town’s award season! On Hollywood’s biggest night, the best dressed stars channeled the simplicity and glamour of the 1920’s film era, paying homage to the silent but golden winner of the evening, “The Artist.”

1B968299

17-time Academy Award nominee Meryl Streep was an image of Oscar gold in her custom, eco-friendly Lanvin long sleeve gown. The deep neckline and asymmetrical draping added to the drama of the Best Actress winner’s look, while her Salvatore Ferragamo peep toe pumps and Lanvin clutch were the ideal touches to complete her ensemble.

1B967602

Best Supporting Actress winner Octavia Spencer was the belle of the ball in a creamy metallic Tadashi Shoji gown with dazzling embellishments. “The Help” actress wore Tadashi to many red carpet events this award season, but this short sleeve gown took top honors. I love how the perfectly placed crystals cinched in her waist to show off her beautiful, curvaceous figure!

1B9673DA

Best Actress nominee Michelle Williams ended her awards season run on a high note in a gorgeous silk and organza Louis Vuitton strapless gown. Her fiery orange dress featured a feminine peplum waist, one of the hottest fashion trends for spring. The “My Week with Marilyn” star finished off her exquisite look with a 30-carat brilliant cut necklace and vintage brooch by Fred Leighton.

Presenter Milla Jovovich looked elegant in a silvery white, sequined Elie Saab Couture one shoulder gown. The “Resident Evil” star topped off her look with Jacob & Co. jewels and an Edie Parker clutch. Although it was her first walk down the Oscars red carpet, Milla looked like a pro as her delicate gown sparkled and showcased her slim frame.

1B967A9D

Presenter Jennifer Lopez definitely turned heads on stage in her sexy and shimmery Zuhair Murad long sleeve gown. The plunging neckline and seductive cutouts complimented JLo’s flawless figure, reminding us why only she can pull off such a daring dress. Wardrobe malfunction aside, nobody can doubt that Jennifer looked stunning in this body hugging gown!

SAG Awards 2012 Best Dressed

Sunday night’s SAG Awards did not disappoint, as the biggest stars of film and television descended on the red carpet at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Hollywood’s leading ladies once again proved that the red carpet arrivals are half the fun of watching the awards telecast! With all the beautifully dressed stars, it wasn’t too difficult to select which celebs took top fashion honors. From lovely ladies in lace to foxy sirens in shades of fuchsia, here are my picks for Best Dressed at the 2012 SAG Awards!

1B86F6A6

“The Help” actress, Emma Stone, looked fun and flirty in her tea length Alexander McQueen strapless dress with lace accents at her neckline. Channeling a retro vibe, Emma completed her darling look with black ankle strap heels with matching lace rosettes.

SAG12_george-stacy

Also rocking the lace trend was George Clooney’s sexy sidekick, Stacy Keibler. Stacy looked stunning in a body hugging black lace Marchesa gown with cap sleeves and a scalloped neckline. Her mermaid skirt complemented her tall frame, while George was the ideal accessory to top off her red carpet look!

SAG12_michelle-williams

One of the best dressed stars of the night was “My Week with Marilyn” actress, Michelle Williams. Michelle looked ravishing in a classic red Valentino gown with an asymmetrical hemline and lace insets. The normally demure Williams turned heads in this sexy but feminine frock, and accessorized her ensemble with matching heels by Roger Vivier.

1B86F20D

Fuchsia was the color of the evening and nobody wore it better than “Modern Family” actress, Julie Bowen. Julie wore an elegant gown by Temperley London, with fluid draping and a daringly sexy back. Dainty embellishments adorned her shoulders, while matching peep toe pumps rounded out her gorgeous look.

1B86F1F1

Voluptuous “Modern Family” actress, Sofia Vergara, was also a vision of beauty in bold fuchsia! Her strapless Marchesa gown with asymmetrical ruching and draping accentuated her famous curves, showing that pink is not only pretty, but positively perfect!

Long Tall Sally Brings Tall Fashion To New Heights

At 5’10”, I have always had a hard time finding clothes that fit. If you’ve ever struggled to find jeans that are long enough, Long Tall Sally will be your new favorite online retailer! As a one stop shop for the fashion needs of vertically inclined women everywhere, Long Tall Sally offers flawlessly proportioned clothing made to flatter women 5’8” and above. Stylish, chic and sophisticated items come in sizes 4-20, with both everyday and trendy pieces to create a well rounded wardrobe. Long Tall Sally even offers fabulous shoes in difficult to find sizes, from 10-13. And the best part is, everything from Long Tall Sally is affordable, so you won’t have to break the bank to buy these specialty items. So to my fellow tall ladies, the search is over… Long Tall Sally has all your fashion needs covered!

LTS Logo

When I discovered Long Tall Sally, the first item I had to try was a pair of jeans. The denim selection is fantastic, with every style from skinny and straight to flare and even maternity, all priced under $109. They also feature a variety of washes, rises, and inseams (34-38 inches) so you can find a pair of jeans that’s right for you! One of my favorite styles for everyday wear is the Chelsea Bootleg Jean ($29). Available in dark or mid denim, these jeans fit my tall frame perfectly, with a contemporary rise and a 34 inch inseam. Not to mention the quality denim fabric lifts and supports in all the right places!

LTS_Chelsea Bootleg Jean 29

Leggings are a must in every fashionista’s wardrobe, but it’s difficult to find a quality pair that fits and flatters our bodies. Long Tall Sally’s Jodhpur Seamed Leggings ($49) are the ideal combination of style and function, and the only pair of leggings that I will wear! Made of a ponte jersey fabric, these riding inspired leggings have strategically placed seams to accentuate your best features, and have enough flair to be worn day or night, casual or dressy. Most importantly, they’re heavier than a traditional cotton style, so they have the look of a great pant but the stretch and comfort of a legging!

Maxi dresses and skirts are also items that are hard to shop for when you’re over 5’8”. Luckily, Long Tall Sally has a beautiful assortment of casual, maxi, cocktail and evening dresses priced from $19 to $165. The first maxi skirt I received from Long Tall Sally brought tears to my eyes, as it was the first item that I had ever tried in my life that I could actually say was too long! The versatile Pleated Maxi Skirt ($49) is classic and feminine, and would look beautiful with a silky tank and a pair of heels. The Multi Color Spot Print Maxi Dress ($165) is new to Long Tall Sally for spring, and would be a stunning choice for any special occasion!

Of course, Long Tall Sally also has a great collection of basic tees and tops, all with longer bodies and arms in mind. This is the best site to stock up on all your essentials, from camis and long sleeve tops to sweaters and blouses!

The best way to shop Long Tall Sally is online, but they also have stores across the globe in the US, UK, Canada, and Germany. You can also check out their website for a list of their upcoming US and European Pop-Up Shops for 2012!

Golden Globes 2012 Red Carpet Fashion Review

Awards Season 2012 is officially in full swing, and Hollywood’s biggest stars came dressed to impress for Sunday night’s Golden Globes! As one of the first major red carpet events of the season, A-list fashionistas were setting trends worthy of a double take. Here’s a rundown of the biggest trends that we’re definitely going to see this Awards Season!

Black & White

The classic color combination is reminiscent of Old Hollywood glamour. Best Actress winners, Kate Winslet and Claire Danes, looked stunning in sophisticated black and white gowns with sexy and feminine twists. Kate went for a refined Jenny Packham gown with flutter sleeves, a keyhole neckline, and Swarovski crystals at the waist. Claire literally turned heads in her modern J. Mendel column gown with a daring open back covered in sparkling rhinestones.

Bold Blues

The hottest color on the red carpet was like a dazzling sapphire gem, with starlets making dramatic statements in striking shades of blue. The voluptuous Sofia Vergara stole the show in a body hugging custom Vera Wang mermaid gown with cascading ruffles and draping. “The Artist” actress, Berenice Bejo, looked amazing in a vibrant cobalt blue Gucci strapless gown and a matching vintage clutch.

Sleeves

From the runway to the red carpet, Hollywood’s latest fashion trend is sleeved dresses. Best Actress winner, Michelle Williams, was an image of romantic elegance in a navy velvet embroidered gown by Jason Wu. Best Actress winner, Laura Dern, sparkled in an emerald Andrew Gn gown with a plunging neckline and belted waist.

Fashionista Resolutions for 2012

It’s a New Year ladies and gents, and there’s no better time than the present to start fresh! We’ve all made resolutions that require a lot of change, like losing ten pounds or making more money. But what about vowing to make a few Fashionista Resolutions that are not only easy to stick to, but will make a difference for yourself and those around you? The New Year means it’s time for a New You – a refreshed, revitalized, and better you from the inside…out!

1) Embrace Your Body Type

There’s nothing more powerful than embracing (and owning) your body type! While we all wish we had perfect bodies, there comes a time when we must love who we are no matter how much you want to change. At 5’10”, I’ve always had a hard time finding clothes that fit me, especially jeans and pants that are long enough. But knowing and appreciating your unique qualities makes the world a much happier place, and makes shopping a heck of a lot more fun! I have learned to accept that it takes me three times as long to find a pair of jeans, and that I can’t wear miniskirts like other gals. All clothes are not created equal, and once we learn how to dress for our body type, we can truly accentuate all that’s beautiful and unique about ourselves!

Realwoman

2) Clean Out Your Closet For A Good Cause

The holidays are a time for fashionistas to replenish their wardrobes. Most of us received some great gifts from the ones we love, and others may have stocked up on staples during the after Christmas madness! But with all that fabulousness coming in, we need to clean out some of our old clothes as well. The basic rules still apply – if you haven’t worn it in a year, toss or donate it. Hang on to only a few key “goal” items, like your “one day I’ll fit in to these again” pants. Reorganize your clothes in to sections, such as tops, sweaters, pants, dresses, suits, etc. You’ll be amazed at the things you find in there that you probably forgot about. The point of this exercise is there’s no need to keep an entire wardrobe of “what ifs,” because there are many people out there who could benefit from your overflowing armoire.

closet-clothes-donate-600

Donate your clothing to a great charity such as Working Wardrobes or Dress For Success. These organizations accept new or gently used professional attire and provide wardrobe services for people trying to enter the workforce. Instead of just taking up space, your unused clothing can help to improve the lives of men and women across the country!

3) Put Your Best Foot Forward

We all have an old but favorite pair of shoes that has probably seen its last day. After we’ve cleaned out our closets and made a pile of shoes that we no longer wear anymore, donate them to those in need. While it’s true that we are judged by the shoes on our feet, it’s also true that there are millions of people that cannot afford a pair of shoes at all. Instead of throwing your old shoes away, or having some beautiful but unworn pair collect dust in your closet, put your best foot forward by contributing to organizations like Soles4Souls and Donate Your Old Shoes. These non-profit groups collect new and used shoes and distribute them to less fortunate people in need around the globe, making a difference one pair at a time.

shoepile

4) Pamper Yourself

Somewhere between our busy schedules, work, kids, life and the holidays, we forgot that we need to reward ourselves too. This year, make it a point to pamper yourself! Whether it’s having your nails done, getting a massage, doing a yoga class, or even walking along the beach, taking care of your mind and body will make you happier and more productive in 2012. As modern fashionistas, we always strive to help and do what’s best for those around us. But remember, it’s okay to be selfish once in a while. Instead of always saying yes to other people’s requests, say yes to yourself!
