Los Angeles Fashion Week Spring 2013 Review

The Spring 2013 collections for LA Fashion Week were the perfect representation of SoCal’s laidback and eclectic fashion scene.  LA designers did not disappoint, showcasing lines that will surely lift your spirits come springtime!  Here are some of the hottest trends that hit the LA runways:

Snow White

Soft shades of white, ivory and cream dominated the runways during LA Fashion Week.  From classic to bohemian silhouettes, key looks were updated for spring with an airy, feminine flair.

Sheer collared blouses, high waisted skirts and sheaths were romantic but refined at AGAIN and Luciana Salamone.

Whimsical maxi dresses in luxurious silk and lace were highlights at Mike Vensel and Odylyne, adding a modern and elegant touch to this key style.

Pretty Prints

From geometric to flirty designs, vibrant prints were in full swing for spring 2013.  Printed pants were both cropped and billowy, proving to be a strong statement piece for fashionistas.

Ladylike florals showed up on skirts and cropped jackets at Basil and Living Doll Los Angeles, pairing beautifully with sheer tops.

And fanciful dresses were adorned with artsy motifs at Naven, reminding us all why we all love spring!

Denim Remastered

The essential fashion item, denim, had a complete makeover for spring 2013.  While jeans are a style staple, Louis Verdad took this versatile fabric to new heights.

Denim suiting was sexy and sophisticated, with shorts, peplums and lace adding to the refreshing designs.

Caplets and bomber jackets in lightweight denim will be the perfect outerwear for the warmer season ahead.

And the LBD may have new competition with this denim number, a one shoulder belted dress with a full lace skirt!

The coming of Spring means warmer weather, cooler clothes, and sexy shoes!  But recently, with the entire country experiencing unpredictable weather, most of us don’t know whether to pack away our winter boots yet or not!?  I thought April Showers brought May Flowers?  While I can’t forecast the weather, I do have a solution for the wacky weather blues – I’ve put together a list of the Top 5 Fashion Must Haves for Sunny Spring! Hopefully, it will get us inspired, motivated, and fashionably ready for the warmer months ahead!

1.  A Flirty Floral Dress

Nothing says Spring better than a sweet and sexy floral dress. Whether it’s a mini, A-line, or sheath, a flirty floral dress is all you will need to get out of the Winter blues.  These dresses are versatile – go casual for daytime with flats and a cardigan, or dress it up for nighttime with jewelry and sexy strappy heels.  These multicolored frocks make pairing shoes and accessories easy, so don’t be afraid to have fun with color!  Another perk – this season’s floral dresses will take you right in to Fall.  Pair with tights, boots, and a bomber jacket and you’ll look hot, even when the weather has cooled off.

2.  Neutral Nude Heels

Every woman has their favorite pair of black heels – your go to shoes if all else fails. Well, after you see this season’s neutral nudes, you might reconsider which pair you grab for next.  Hollywood starlets have known the secret of nude heels for years.  Not only do they elongate your legs (what could be better than that?), but they easily pair with everything, from a classic suit, sexy dress, to jeans and a tee.  Nude shoes are simple, sophisticated, and most importantly, not overpowering. They finish your look, while letting the rest of your outfit shine.  As much as I love statement shoes, these new neutrals are just perfect and are a definite must have for Spring.  After all, nude never goes out of style!

And no woman is complete without a great clutch – these are perfect for your date night necessities and look amazing with the season’s sexiest dresses!

4.  Layered Necklaces

It’s amazing how jewelry can transform an outfit from OK to Ooh La La! The lovely layered necklaces of the season do just that, taking you from day to night in one simple step.  The relaxed, bohemian vibe of these pieces glam up your outfit without overdoing it.  Go for an all in one necklace like this one from Express, or use what you have to make the most of your existing accessories.  Chains in silver and gold, strands of pearls, gems or rhinestones – whatever you’re in the mood for, you can’t go wrong this season when you layer it up!

The last must have for Spring is the ultra versatile scarf.  It’s a tried and true fashion staple that all women must own.
